Coastal & Submarine Geomorphology - Monterey Canyon collaboration

California has several large submarine canyons that terminate very near the beach. Research through the Watershed Geology Lab has shown that these peri-coastal canyon heads are very active, even in the presence of high global sea level. Coastal hazards associated with these active canyons include tsunamigenic landslides and landward erosion.
